A Pan-Africanist, Pan-Nigerian, thinker, scholar, philosopher, public affairs Analyst, orator, motivational speaker,Ozekhome in 1987, co- founded and pioneered the first ever human rights league in Nigeria, the Civil Liberties Organization (CLO). He is a weekly multi-columnist in several leading Nigerian newspapers where he fiercely discusses issues of law, democracy, human rights, rule of law and governance.
Ozekhome uses law as an instrument of socio-economic and political engineering, to defend the rights of vulnerable persons and communities ( several of them pro bono) against oppression,impunity and arbitrariness.He has over the years handled several cases for corporations, MDAs and multinationals.
Ozekhome is widely respected as a detribalised Nigerian that champions the defence and protection of human rights,the rule of law,democracy and good governance. He is a member of numerous local and international Associations, including the International Bar Association (IBA), Commonwealth Lawyers Association (CLA), African Bar Association (ABA), Pan African Lawyers Union (PALU), American Bar Association (Associate), Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Member, Rotary International (Paul Haris Fellow), etc. Ozekhome is a Life Bencher and a Counsel at the International Criminal Court at The Hague, Netherlands. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the International Commission on Human Rights (ICHR). He is a Global Peace Ambassador by Universal Peace Federation (UPF), and also a well respected United Nations Peace Ambassador.

Ozekhome has been cited in various biographies globally, including “One of the leading personalities of the 21st Centuries”, and “one of 2000 Outstanding Intellectuals of the 21st Century,” by International Biographical Institute (IBI), Cambridge, England. He has been cited in “Who is Who in the World”; “Who is Who in Africa”; “Who is Who in Nigeria”, etc. He has been decorated with over 400 awards locally and internationally.
